Roman Reigns and Edge are set to collide at WWE Money in the Bank 2021 for the very first time.
Roman Reigns vs Edge: Match Preview
These two shared a ring last time at the main event of Wrestlemania 37. It was a triple threat match involving Daniel Bryan. Since then Reigns has defended his Universal championship against the likes of Cesaro and Rey Mysterio. The latter of which took place inside a Hell in a Cell.
Edge however was absent from WWE programming since his loss at Mania. He made his shocking return a few weeks ago on SmackDown, attacking Reigns and Jimmy Uso and challenging him for the WWE Universal Championship.
Roman Reigns Journey So Far
Roman Reigns looks to be the favorite going into this match as he has been on a dominant run since his return last year at SummerSlam winning the title the next week and being on an undefeated run since.
He seems to be on a collision course with John Cena this August at SummerSlam which will likely be for the Universal championship so Reigns is most probably coming out on top this weekend.
Edge Journey So Far
Edge made his shocking return in last year’s Royal Rumble at the number 21 entrant after a career-ending injury all the way back in 2011.
Since then he has won the 2021 Men’s Royal Rumble match from the number 1 spot, making him the third person ever to do so (after Shawn Michaels and Chris Benoit), and has main evented WrestleMania as mentioned earlier.
The rumors/plans after this match:
WWE seems to be hinting at another big match for SummerSlam between Edge and Seth Rollins. Tensions have been growing between these two since Edge’s recent return. Only time will tell if it will be for the Universal Championship or not.
This week in WWE Smackdown:
WWE has announced a big six-man tag match between Reigns, Jimmy Uso, and Jey Uso vs Edge, Rey Mysterio, and Dominic Mysterio as the big go-home angle for their match this Friday in front of a live crowd as WWE finally starts touring.
