St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Preview CPL 2021

A terrible history in the CPL during the years, SNP might turn their fate upside down in this edition coming out of a strong auction. They have been poor throughout the years, stuck with the wooden spoon twice, runners up once and qualified for the play-offs once and ended on the last position in the previous draft of CPL. They have retained 7 players ahead of CPL 2021 draft.

New Signings

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots retained 7 players ahead of CPL 2021. Caribbean pacer Sheldon Cottrell, with his “salute” celebration, is one of the retained players. Evin Lewis, their highest run getter previous year, has also been retained. They traded 2 players to other franchises. They signed Dwayne Bravo from Trinbago Knight Riders in return for their wicket keeping batsman Denesh Ramdin. The other name traded to St Kitts from Guyana Amazon Warriors is Sherfane Rutherford. St Kitts have retained Fabian Allen, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Rayad Emrit, Joshua de Silva and Dominic Drakes apart from Evin Lewis and Sheldon Cottrell.

The big names around the auction for St Kitts are Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Wanindu asaranga. Chris Gayle, the Universe boss will be playing for St Kitts and Nevis Patirots in CPL 2021. Chris Gayle opted out of CPL 2020 but has returned this year. He will be playing alongside his mate Dwayne Bravo. DJ Bravo, traded from Trinbago Knight Riders is a big trade for St Kitts. They have brought in Wanindu Hasaranga, the Sri Lankan spin bowling all rounder. Rassie Van Der Dussen, the young South African will be donning St Kitts jersey this year. Another big buy for St Kitts is Anrich Nortje, the speed gun.

What to expect

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have a very strong batting line up now after the auction. Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis at the top will be very explosive. Rassie Van Der Dussen in the middle order will be very handy as he can be explosive and can drop anchor according to the situation. Young talent Joshua De Silva performed well for St Kitts last year as well. Dj Bravo and Wanindu Hasaranga down the order will be a great duo to end the innings on a high.

In the bowling department, St Kitts roping in Anrich Nortje was a huge positive. He is a speed gun and will be a great addition to the team. He can fire 150kmph balls anytime of the match, in the powerplay, middle overs and in the death. Sheldon Cottrell will asist Anrich well. Hasaranga should definetely start for St Kitts in the playing XI. Anrich Nortje, Wanindu Hasaranga, Van Der Dussen should be sure starters in the XI. Fabian Allen is a lovely all rounder. He can hit some biggies and is a decent spinner.

St Kitts managed to win just a single game previous year in the CPL. They’ll hope to make amends in their planning and team. The squad shows their mindset:

Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Evin Lewis, Fabian Allen, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Anrich Nortje, Sherfane Rutherford, Sheldon Cottrell, Wanindu Hasaranga, Devon Thomas, Rayad Emrit, Rahamanullah Gurbaz, Colin Archibald, Jon Russ Jaggesar, Dominic Drakes, Joshua da Silva
