Pooja Rani Journey:– Pooja Rani is a Middleweight Indian Boxer to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics

 Pooja Rani Bohra who is popularly known as Pooja Rani is a Middleweight Indian Boxer to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Having brought laurels to the country by winning the Gold Medal in the South Asian Games 2016,winning the Silver medal in the 2012 Asian Championship and winning the Bronze Medal in 2015 Asian Championship. She is also serving as  an Income Tax inspector at the Haryana government.

Pooja Rani in her early Days:

Pooja Rani was born on 17th February 1991 in Nimriwali village of Haryana state’s Bhiwani district, which considered to be the sport’s cradle in the country. Having interest in the sport she joined the Hawa Singh Boxing Academy keeping it a secret from her father. Her father barred her from attending her boxing classes after he found out about his daughters aspirations of playing the sport, it was her coach Sanjay Kumar Sheoran who pleaded in front of the family and convinced her family to allow her to take part.

CAREER:

Pooja broke through into the national stage after winning the  National Youth Boxing Championship in 2009,later in 2012 she won the Silver Medal in the  Asian Boxing Championships  and the Arafura Games held in Australia . Pooja failed to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics after she failed to defeat her opponent in the 2nd round of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2016. She was the first Indian female boxer to qualify for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics after winning her quarter finals boxing bout in the Asia-Oceania Olympics qualifiers.

3. Winning the Bronze medal in the 7th Asian Women Boxing championship held in Wulanchabu, China 2015 

4. Winning the Bronze medal in the 17th Asian Games held in Incheon, Korea 2014

5. Winning the Bronze medal in the China open Boxing Guiyang city 2011 

6. Winning the Silver medal in the   Arafura Games held in Darwin, Australia 2011

7. Winning the Bronze medal in the 3rd Nations cup held in Verbas, Serbia 2014 

8. Winning the Bronze medal in the 5th Nations cup held in Ruma, Serbia 2016

1. Winning the Gold medal in the 4th Senior North Zone Boxing championship held in Chandigarh 2009 

2. Winning the Gold medal in the Federation cup held in Uttrakhand, Nainital 2009 

3. Winning the Silver medal in the. 4th Youth women National boxing championship held in Goa from 2009

4. Winning the Gold medal in the Federation cup held in Nainital 2010 

5. Winning the Bronze medal in the 11th Senior women National Boxing championship held in Thrissur, Kerala.2010
