Deepak Punia: Freestyle wrestler

Deepak Punia is a freestyle wrestler who mainly did his wrestling in the 86 kg event. He represented India in many championships and earned medals in various event .Deepak Punia has been counted as among the  top wrestlers in the India.

Deepak Punia Early Life and Family

Deepak Punia was born in Jhajhar district in hariyana where wrestling is a common thing. his father name was Subash Punia who is a dairy farmer . his father introduced him to the wrestling and often take him to Dangals .at the age of 5 he started his wrestling carrier in his own village Akhara which was run by the Arjun Awardee and Virender Singh Chhara. His father supported him throughout his journey.Despite of having very bad financial problem , he never showed it to his children and always encourage them to follow their  dreams . when Deepak joined the training Centre for wrestling at 86 kg category , his father used to travel 80 km just to give his son fruit and milk .

Deepak was very focused from his childhood . from the age of 7 he was making his family proud ,he wanted to make his family known to the world and make them proud .he also got a offered from the Indian Army .but later on ,one of his cousins ,Sushil kumar advised Deepak Punia to take the wrestling as his priority .

Achievements

In 2015, Deepak moved to Delhi and joined Chhatrasal Stadium. in 2016 , he earned a gold medal at the Cadet world championship in 2016.
