Usually when one talk about cricket in UK , then he directly thinks about fast bowlers and pacers who can swing the ball . That’s obvious though , as the English conditions had proved to be in Favor of pacers over the years. No one thinks of more than one spinner their , especially about finger spinner . But the fact is , India -who are one of the finalists of WTC final – are known for their spinners magic in Tests matches. And New Zealand also believes in spin .
The day is not too far when India will face New Zealand in the much-awaited battle of the Inaugural WTC final . The summit clash will take place from June 18 to 22 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Both teams have reached UK and the talks of Team selections and combinations have started all over the globe. As its in Britain , Pacers are most dominant always, is the thought circulated from past time . But the spinners can be surprise for the batsman . Let’s have look at the top spinners who could be selected in the battle :
Indian Spinners :
Ravichandran Ashwin : From last 5-7 years , the name that is dominating and leading spin department of India , especially in tests , is R Ashwin . He is very talented and clever cricketer. Ashwin produces several variations of the ball and flights the ball, thereby giving it more chance to spin and dip on the batsman. In addition to his normal off Breaks , he produces an arm ball and the Carrom ball . He does leg spin in between as well . So all this doings makes him more special .
His batting is also impressive in tests . Recently in IndvsEng series he scored a century in Chennai . So with all these , he is top contender in team until captain thinks of an extra pacer .
Ravi Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja are the 2 pillars of Indian team
Ravindra Jadeja : If anyone talks about all rounder in game of cricket , Ravi Jadeja is the leading name. Jadeja as bowler in tests has achieved very much . The venue , UK , is his favorite overseas venue . And the opponents NZ are also his favorite. So it will be interesting to see how Jaddu performs .
His batting and especially fielding are the things which make him a typical 3-d cricket player. He is the perfect player to bat at 7 in any test team.
Axar Patel and Washington Sundar : These both young men made their test debut right before some months . Both of them impressed all with their respective performances. Sundar with his Sydney heroics with the bat managed to help his team to get pulled out of collapse . And Axar Patel took 27 wickets in 3 tests he played against England. So both are the talented youngsters but might have to wait for another match as Both Ravi’s place is not confirmed yet .
New Zealand Spinners :
If we look at New Zealand squad , we could not find many star spinners . But some of them are
Mitchell Santner : He is the only NZ spinner who has been consistent with his performance and availability in team . Perhaps , NZ have 4 main pacers in playing 11 , its 50/50 for Mitchell to get chance to play WTC final . His records with bat and bowl , both are good . Captain KW and management have to decide seeing pitch whether they have to play MS or not. He will have competition with Collin de Grandhomme for being in playing 11 .
Ajaz Patel : This is an choice for KW in spin department . The 32 years old Ajaz has played 8 tests and acquired 22 wickets in it. We can say , he might have played if the venue was in India . That’s the story for another day , it seems .
So this is all about spinners in WTC final . Let’s wait and see how they perform in final . Till then , Good bye !
