We are finally getting back some T20 action. PSL 2021 is all set to resume on the 1st of June in Abu Dhabi. In this series of blogs, we will be analyzing the season so far of every team. The next team is Lahore Qalandars.
Lahore Qalandars so far
Lahore has been playing great cricket in this season so far. They have been chasing down totals with ease. If a team’s strategy is to chase down the target, then they have to focus on two factors. First, the bowlers have to restrict the opposition for a low score, and second, the batsmen will have to pace the innings correctly and chase down the target. Lahore Qalandars are ticking all the boxes.
They are at the 4th position in the points table with 3 wins in 4 matches and 6 points under their belt. These points are only going to get higher with the coming matches, and chasing has been their biggest strength this season.
Players to watch out for
Shaheen Shah Afridi- Afridi has bowled with an economy of just under 7 this season and has picked up 9 wickets in 4 matches. These are not too many wickets, but his economy has been very useful in T20 cricket. If he continues to bowl in this manner, he can surely pick up more wickets.
Rashid Khan- Rashid Khan has only played 2 games this season, but he has been very economical, his economy is just 5.5 runs per over. Even if he does not pick too many wickets, he surely is amongst the top players for Lahore Qalandars.
Mohammed Hafeez- He has a strike rate of 175 and an average of 90, this shows that he is staying at the crease till the end and winning matches for his team. He is surely one of their most important players.
Fakhar Zaman- At the top, Fakhar Zaman is doing a phenomenal job by releasing all the pressure for the coming batsmen. He has a strike rate of 143, and it is expected that he will continue to play in this fashion.
Probable Playing XI
Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar (c), Agha Salman, Mohammad Hafeez, Ben Dunk (wk), Samit Patel, David Wiese, Rashid Khan, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Afridi, Salman Mirza
Apart from the top players, Haris Rauf, Ben Dunk, and David Wiese are also going to be very important for Lahore Qalandars.
