They had a tough outing the other night in the PSL2021. They put up a score of 143 on the board after 20 overs. Even 140 seemed distant at a time. There score was 101/7 after 16 overs. Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Wasim Jr quickfired some rune down the order to make Islamabad reach a decent total. Their bowling though, put up an excellent show. The pitch was a sluggish one but not to take any praise away from the bowlers.
Bowling attack of Islamabad, led by Hasan Ali, did a fantastic job to stangulate Lahore’s batting line-up. Nearly every bowler performed upto the mark or even better to grab the game sans Hussain Talat, who just couldn’t handle Rashid Khan’s assault. The momentum shifted towards Lahore at the end of the penultimate over. Hasan Ali bowled one hell of a penultimate over but the last ball couldn’t land well and hence he was hit for a six on a half volley. Lahore crawled back in the last over and snatched it from Islamabad United.
The positive’s out of this game for Islamabad United would be Hasan Ali’s performance. Their lower order providing crucial runs, main guy being Faheem Ashraf. They have to look into their batting woes. A lot depends on the top order. Colin Munro and Islamabad born, Usman Khwaja need to give justice to their roles. Shadab khan, the skipper also should take charge in all departments.
Quetta find themselves at the bottom of the table. They have won just a single game out of their five. It’s surprising that a team with Chris Gayle and Andre Russel has the worst net run rate out of all. They have a net run rate of -0.936. This resumption might go towards them as they’ve roped in or made some big players available.
Their only win last year came against Multan Sultans, in the last game before postponement of PSL2021. Quetta scored 176 runs while batting first. Usman Khan scored 81 runs in 50 balls and a quickfire 20 by Mohammad Nawaz down the order made them reach 176. Multan Sultans could score 154 and were all out with three balls remaining. Qais Ahmed was awarded the Player Of The Match for his 3-fer, giving just 21 runs. Quetta got the momentum and they have some new players ahead of today’s clash.
Players to look out for
Faf Du Plessis: Quetta Gladiators have roped in Faf Du Plessis for the second half of PSL2021. Faf Du Plessis is going to be a great addition to Quetta’s squad. He was in a terrific form in the Indian Premier League 2021. Scoring 270 runs in just 6 innings, he was the highest scorer for CSK. Despite not getting enough international games recently, he is in a fine touch.
Chris Gayle: Chris Gayle. the Universe Boss, will partner Faf Du Plessis at the top. This duo is going to be of the highest quality. Gayle had a decent outing in the IPL2021. Although, he did not get much matches with him, he too remains in a good touvh always.
Andre Russel: Muscle Russel will also be a part of Quetta Gladiators. He suffers a bit against outside off yorkers as we saw him getting exposed in the IPL. But, he did work on that and proved to everyone that Russel is Russel. His destructive innings against CSK was a satement that he had arrived.
Usman Khwaja: With Alex Hales withdrawing from the league and not available, Usman neds to step up and do well for Islamabad United. Usman Khwaja is paired up with Colin Munro at the top and Shadab Khan to follow. He has a lot of responsibility on his head and a player of his calibre can always be relied upon
Faheem Ashraf: Faheem Ashraf, the bowling all rounder is a player to bet on. He always brings something with him. His crucial performance in the previous game against Lahore Qalandars and gave Islamadab a hope to win. Playing a watchful innings down the order and picking wickets at intervals.
Hasan Ali: Hasan Ali is the leader of the pace attack. He bowled magnificiently against Lahore Qalandars in the previous match. Although he got hit for a six on the last ball, his penultimate over was of top class.
