Srikant Jadhav, with a Super 10 was the star for the UP team, as a result saw that UP Yoddha jumps to seventh on the points table.
Pune coach Anup Kumar was even forced to assign the raiding duties to Manjeet and young Pankaj Mohite after the Nitin Tomar was ruled due to an injury. Moreover, the experiences raiding duo of the Monu and Rishank were not a part of the starting seven for the UP as they even handed over the raiding duties to Shrikant and Surinder.
But the young players rose up to the occasion, especially Shrikant who scored around eight raid points in a first half that saw the UP Yoddha inflict the All-Out on the Paktan in the 12th minute. A raid heavy first half ended 16-9 in favor of the UP team.
Manjeet started the second half brightly for the Puneri Paltan, heeding to his coach advice and picking up a valuable Bonus Points. But UP’s defense especially Anshu and Sumit, picked their game up after the restart to make sire remained in the lead.
Pune struggled to come into the match despite Manjeet’s solo efforts that saw him secure a Super 10 with 6 minutes on the clock. He enforced an All-Out on UP with a two-point raid with two minutes remaining but the Yoddha defense held firm, thanks to a High five by Sumit, to clinch an important victory. Paltan’s defeat means they continue to remain second from bottom in the table.
