Pro Kabaddi League: Can UP Yoddha push for the No.1 spot? | Team Preview, Schedule, Squad, News.

U.P. Yoddha is one of seven teams that haven’t won a Vivo Pro Kabaddi title yet and this is something they would want to change in the eighth season. This does not undermine their team as a whole who since its debut has made it into the playoffs every season. They are a highly anticipated side who perform in tandem and get the results they wish for.

UP Yoddha went all out to get ‘Record Breaker’ into its team for the upcoming season of the Pro Kabaddi League. The Rs. 1.65 CR price tag now associated with Pradeep Narwal makes him the most expensive player in the league’s history, leaving behind Monu Goyat’s record fee of Rs. 1.51 CR. Pradeep Narwal is an absolute champion of the sport and has shown his prowess in the previous seasons of the PKL.

Besides the big fish called Narwal, UP also generously loosened the purse for Shrikant Jadhav. A reliable do-or-die raider, he led U.P. Yoddha in scoring in Season 7 with 152 points. He’s been retained, with a lot of hope and aspirations riding behind his back as the Yoddha’s rest their faith on him. Existing New Young Player Surender Gill is another player to watch out for. Except for these class raiders, Sahil, Gulveer Singh and Ankit will be expected to provide sufficient back-up to ensure a strong show.

Nitesh Kumar, Sumit and Ashu Singh were stalwarts for U.P. Yoddha last season and this time too, the Yoddhas will be expecting the trio to go big in defence. They bank heavily on the performance of these veterans and will be hoping them to perform well this time too. Aashish Nagar and Gaurav Kumar are the other defenders who will look to make a name for themselves for U.P. Yoddha in the upcoming season.

Some of the players to watch out for include names like Pradeep Narwal, Shrikant Jadhav, Nitesh Kumar, Surender Gill, Gulveer Singh, Gaurav Kumar and Surender Gill. They look like a powerhouse on paper with a proper mixture of experience and youth in both departments and can definitely go the long way if they fire in coordination.
