Naveen Kumar was once again the hero for the Dabang Delhi KC as they beat Gujarat Fortune Giants 34-30 in the PKL match at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi Pune on Sunday.
Naveen picked up another Super ten as Delhi produced with a composed performance, despite being closely challenged in the second half by the Fortune Giants by the Fortune Giants to pick up five points and consolidate their stay at the top of the points table.
The initial minutes of the match suggested that it would be a closely fought encounter with both the defenses looking so sharp. Ravinder Pahal pulled off the two successful tackles for the Delhi side while on the other hand, Ruturaj Koravi was looking in the form.
But Naveen Kumar had some other plans as well, as he unlocked the Gujarat defense with five points raid in the ninth minute to clinch ann All out for the Delhi. The restart did not bring the good fortunes for the Fortune Giants with their raiders looking rather than the one dimensional against the Delhi defense that was slowly growing in stature.
Delhi secured their second All Out in the first move of the second half, but the restart marked the revival for the last season runners up with the Fortune Giants. Pankaj, playing in the left corner for the Gujarat which makes sure Naveen Kumar had no influence in the game, while on the other hand, Rohit Gulia produced a quickfire Super 10 to inflict an All-Out-on Delhi and reduced the margin.
