Post Match PBKS VS DC. On the night of the first doubleheader of the season, the Delhi Capitals have shown a very comprehensive display that has eventually brought them winning this clash against the Punjab Kings by 6 wickets. The Kings set a target of 196 for the nation’s capital on Sunday which the latter calmly chased.
Just like how the openers of Punjab provided a strong platform for them, the openers for Delhi. Shikhar Dhawan, and Shaw set the platform with a strong attacking start. Shaw fell after his quick bust and Smith followed him back too. Shikhar Dhawan slammed a power packed 49-ball 92.
Chasing a challenging 196, Dhawan singlehandedly set up the chase for Delhi which was later finished off by Marcus Stoinis (27*) and Lalit Yadav (12*) with 10 balls to spare. Marcus Stoinis admitted he was happy with his performance. He adds that they thought Punjab will make 250 but the bowlers did well to keep them under 200.
Earlier in the day, due to KL Rahul and Mayank Aggarwal’s exploits with the blade, the Punjab Kings ended up on a good total. They had some good lusty blows from Gayle, Hooda, Shahrukh towards the end and saw them finish at just around the 200 run mark.
The bowling by Delhi was poor in the first half of the first innings, but they did come back nicely in the last 10 overs. In the end, their complete display, with bat and ball, sees them end on the winning side. Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Skipper, says that he is happy with the victory. Shikhar Dhawan was declared as the MAN OF THE MATCH and told the media that he was always more behind increasing his strike rate and took more risks.
With a massive performance by both the teams, the Delhi Capitals were very dominant and have got the better of the Punjab here.
