The Tokyo Olympics 2020 is finally underway. The Games will start on 23rd July after a long wait. The COVID19 pandemic had delayed the Games by one year. However, the Olympics will begin with the traditional opening ceremony event on 23rd July.

Due to the sensitive COVID19 situation, spectators are not allowed at the ceremony. However, the ceremony will be streamed LIVE for the viewers to enjoy. Emperor Naruhito will start the ceremony. The event will begin with an exhibition flight by the Blue Impulse. Blue Impulse is the acrobatic squadron of the Japan Air Self-Defence Force. The squadron will architect Olympic Rings with beautiful colors in the sky. The ceremony will also involve the lighting of the iconic Olympic Cauldron.

The ceremony is going to be magnanimous with foreign dignitaries from various nations. For India, the opening ceremony is going to be a proud moment. Manpreet Singh, the Captain of the Indian National Men’s Hockey Team and the six-time World Champion Mary Kom will lead the Indian Contingent as the Flag Bearers.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 Opening Ceremony Timings and LIVE Telecast

The Opening Ceremony will begin at 4:30 PM IST on July 23rd, 2021. The ceremony will take place at the Japan National Stadium.

The SONY Sports Network will telecast the Opening Ceremony LIVE. The English telecast will be on SONY TEN 1 and SONY TEN 2. Hindi Telecast will be available on SONY TEN 3. Other than that National Broadcaster Doordarshan will also broadcast the ceremony in India. There will also be an option of the LIVE stream on the SONYLiv app for the ceremony.
