Tokyo Olympics 2020: Back Injury Prevents Olympic Javelin Champion Thomas Roehler From Participating

Tokyo Olympics 2020: The Defending men’s champion in Javelin’s throw has been ruled out due to a back injury. On Monday he confirmed that he got injured during a training exercise.

Roehler is the current European Champion. He also secured the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics by a winning throw of 90.30 m.

The 29-year old German athlete was in magnificent form. It is surely a shock to everyone

He added

The Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to start on July 23 to August 8 after being postponed to one year due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

Thomas Roehler would have been a serious hope for Germany to win a gold at the javelin throw tournament. However, Germany still has Johannes Vetter, the 2017 World Champion as another extremely strong contender.
