Revathi Veeramani who was Orphaned at five, all set for Tokyo Olympics 2020

Revathi Veeramani has come from the humblest of beginnings. She was orphaned when she was 5 and was raised by her grandmother with her bare minimum daily wage. She could not afford sports shoes as a kid because it was a luxury for her. Revathi ran barefoot in the Sakkimangalam village in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district as an early sports child.

Now the inspirational athlete has come so far. She will be representing India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in the 4x400m Indian mixed relay team.

I was told that my father had some stomach issue because of which he died, six months after that, my mother died of brain fever. I was not even six when they passed away in quick succession.

Revathi Veeramani said during an interview recalling.

Revathi is definitely an asset to the Indian sports fraternity with her exceptional talent. She won the silver medal in the Federation Cup in 2019. She also won the 400m races at the Indian Grand Prix in 2019.

Veeramani had an injury during early 2021 and missed out on some events however, she is all ready to represent India.
