PV Sindhu did it yet again on Day 6 at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. She defeated N.Y. Cheung of Hong Kong by a comfortable margin on Wednesday. PV Sindhu is one of India’s strongest medal contenders at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Sindhu advanced to the Knockout Stages after defeating Cheung with a comfortable scoreline of 21-9, 21-16. The first round started with Sindhu dominating her opponent all over the court. She won the first round comfortably with a solid 12 point lead. In the 2nd Round N.Y. Cheung came back with her full strength and gave Sindhu a tough fight. However, it was not enough as Sindhu played consistently well and won the round with 21-16 in her favor. The game never advanced to the third round.
PV Sindhu has now advanced to the Knockout Stages. She will face M. Blichfeldt of Denmark as her opponent in the Round of 16. Sindhu who once was never a potential medalist has turned her game around. She came into the limelight after winning a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. After five years of training, Sindhu has claimed herself to be a totally different person.
Let’s hope that Sindhu retains her form in her upcoming matches and brings India an Olympic gold medal.
