PV Sindhu has done it! She won against He Bingjiao of China in the Quarter-Finals at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Sindhu lost the Gold medal Qualification match on Saturday. She faced Tai Tzu-Ying in the qualification round who defeated her in straight game. However, Sindhu did not give up. She came back strong in the Bronze medal match and defeated her opponent He Bingjiao with sheer aggression.

  • PV Sindhu adjusted her playing style in the Quarter-Finals. She was a bit passive in the Gold Medal Qualification Match which could be the reason of her defeat. Nevertheless, she played really aggressively in the bronze medal match to win.
  • Sindhu started the first round really well. She used a balanced variation of smashes and drops on her opponent to win the round 21-13.
  • He Bingjiao came back strong in the second round where she gave a tough fight to Sindhu. However, Sindhu collected herself well and won the later rallies in the round.
  • She was finally able to get lead over her opponent and the round ended at 21-15 in Sindhu’s favor. Sindhu became the first Indian Woman to win two consecutive medals at the Olympics.

Sindhu would be surely heartbroken that she was not able to convert her 2016 Rio Olympics silver medal into a gold. However, the fighter that she is, she did not give up and prevailed in the bronze medal match to raise the Tricolor again. She has done the whole nation proud.
