Famous Indian Badminton player PV Sindhu won her first game at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Sindhu faced K. Polikarpova of Israel as her opponent. PV Sindhu dominated the game with ease and finished with a comprehensive victory against the Israeli athlete.
Sindhu beat Ksenia Polikarpova in the women’s singles group J match on Sunday. Ksenia Polikarpova is currently ranked 58th in the world. Sindhu won easily with a one-sided score line of 21-7 21-10.
Sindhu started the game in an aggressive tone. However, she held back a little after lagging 3-4. Sindhu kept her calm and built her game around the opponents weaknesses. Polikarpova made many mistakes on her own account. This gave Sindhu the momentum she was looking for. Following that was a 13 point straight lead by PV Sindhu. She used her signature straight and cross court smashes to get the better of her opponent.
Sindhu’s next opponent is Hong Kong’s world number 34 Cheung Ngan Yi in the group stage.
The Olympics have witnessed many Indian Athletes breaking the norms. Mirabai Chanu won the first Olympic 2020 medal for India. Lets hope that other athletes of the Indian Contingent also bag medals for the nation.
