The Indian Shooting team is currently training in Croatia and Italy. The 13 pistol and rifle shooters have decided to leave with the coaches and their physiotherapists on the 16th.
Meanwhile, the remaining contingent including the two skeet shooters – Mairaj Ahmed Khan and Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, along with coach Mansher Singh are currently in Italy. The Indian Shooting team has decided to rendezvous in Amsterdam. The complete team will leave for Tokyo Olympics 2020 on the 17th of July.
The Olympics 2020 has already witnessed a series of obstacles. Earlier the Tokyo Olympics 2020 was delayed because of the global pandemic.
Even now the situation is not really feasible. The athletes will have to undergo special restrictions and procedures before being allowed to perform. Some people even believe that it is a bit racist and discriminative to have these “special guidelines” for particular countries.
The Indian Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju even tweeted about this matter and said that these guidelines were distasteful and discriminative.
The athletes will be tested every day before and during the event. Each contingent has been provided with a 70-page guideline which has to be strictly followed. Also, each team will have a COVID-19 liaison officer to help them with this situation.
