India vs New Zealand: The Indian Men’s Hockey Team registered a win in their first match at the Tokyo Olympics. The Indians Team defeated New Zealand’s Team with a final tally of 3-2. Harmanpreet Singh scored two goals for India while Rupinder Pal Singh scored another to give the team a final score of 3.

The match started shocking for team India when Kane Russell scored from a penalty corner in the sixth minute of the game. However, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh scored to bring India back into the game. Harmanpreet scored at the 26th and 33rd minute while Rupinder Singh Score in the 10th minute. Stephen Jenness scored at the 43rd minute for New Zealand. However, Goal Keeper P R Sreejesh stood like a wall guarding the goal. New Zealand wasted four consecutive penalty corners and the match slipped out of the hands of the Kiwis. Mandeep Singh did not score but won a penalty for the team which was eventually scored by Rupinder Pal Singh.
India will face Australia on Sunday in their next game. Let’s hope for the best. May the eight-time champions do it yet again.
