India is the home of cricket, people here follow cricket just like a religion. It would be safe to say for many people cricket is next to God if not God. Every child in India has at least dreamt of becoming a cricketer once in their lifetime. Every other person seems to have a solid cricketing knowledge, even when the Indian cricket team fails to win so many people have so many feedback or suggestions.
The popularity of cricket is unreal in India, and we know our international players are not just players they are our stars and hence they are compensated accordingly, but do players only earn when they reach the international level? Let us understand the salary structure of Domestic cricket under the BCCI contract of men and Women cricketers of India.
Salary Structure of Domestic Cricketers – MEN
As domestic season is already underway, a lot of questions arise how much does a domestic player in India earn? because for the majority of domestic players, the only source of income is cricket as they spend most of their life following their passion. Let us understand the BCCI Contracts and the salary given to the players.
BCCI in 2021 brought happiness to the domestic camps by updating the salary structures. It was long overdue, as players have been asking for the increment for a very long period but BCCI had other priorities.
In the 2021 update, BCCI stated that any senior domestic player who has played 40 or more Ranji Trophy matches will be getting Rs 60,000 as their salary per day, and any player who has played matches between 21 to 40 will be getting Rs 50,000 per day and any player with lesser experience is entitled to a salary of Rs 40,000 per day.
Earlier before the update, a domestic Ranji player used to earn Rs 1,40,000 for a 4-day Ranji game if he was in Playing 11 and exactly half of the amount if he was on the bench.

In 2022, BCCI announced an equal pay policy for both men and women International cricketers. The women’s match fees for international matches are 15 lakh for a Test, 6 lakh for an ODI, and 3 lakh for a T20I.
However, the story of women domestic cricketers is not the same as that of the men. After the 2021 salary increment introduced by the BCCI, the salary of any women domestic cricketer is now Rs 20,000 for a domestic one-day game. Earlier it used to be Rs 12,500. The difference between the men and women in domestic cricket salary is drastic.
Age-group cricketers
After the increment, the U-23 Players earn Rs 25,000 per day, U-19 who are in playing 11 earn Rs 20,000 per day and the U-16 players earn Rs 7,000 per day. This salary structure is only for the playing 11 the players on bench, they get 50% of the amount mentioned. The structure is the same for Men and Women cricketers.
