Ajay Thakur: The King Of Kabaddi

Ajay Thakur is a professional kabaddi player who plays for Indian National Team and Tamil Thalaivas in the Pro Kabaddi League. Thakur was born on 1 May 1986 in Dabhota, Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh. Kabaddi runs in his blood. As his father is a former kabaddi player and a coach while his cousin Rakesh has also represented the national kabaddi team.  Ajay is the recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award and Padma Shri. Thakur was part of the Indian contingent which won the 2007 Asian Indoor Games, 2009 Asian Indoor Games, 2010 Asian Games, 2014 Asian Games 2016 Kabaddi world cup, Asian Kabaddi Championship 2017, 2018 Dubai Kabaddi masters. He won the bronze medal at the 2012 Asian Beach Games and 2018 Asian Games.


Ajay Thakur began his Pro Kabaddi League career with Bengaluru Bulls in season 1. Thakur scored a total of 122 raid points and 5 tackle points. Bengaluru Bulls retained Ajay for Season 2. He scored 79 raid points and 1 tackle point.  Ajay helped the team in the raiding department and helped the team become runners-up in season 2.

In season 3, Puneri Paltan signed Ajay. His performance levels dropped. He scored 52 raid points and 4 tackle points. Puneri Paltan retained Ajay for season 4. He did not have a good season. He scored 63 raid points and 1 tackle point. In season 5, Tamil Thalaivas bought Ajay and appointed him as captain. He scored just 213 raid points and 9 tackle points. In Season 6, Tamil Thalaivas retained Ajay. He scored 203 raid points and1 tackle point. Tamil Thalaivas retained Ajay for season 7. Manjeet had the worst year in the Pro kabaddi league. He scored 58 raid points.
