Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante usually known as Rodri or Rodrigo is a 22-year-old professional football player from Spain.

He plays for Premier League club Manchester City and Spain national team as a midfielder. 

Background

Rodri was born on 22 June 1996 in Madri, Spain and he belongs to the Hispanic ethnicity.

He was in the youth team of Rayo Majadahonda in 2006. In 2007 he joined the Atletico Madrid youth setup at the age of 11.

Atletico Madrid removed him in 2013 due to the lack of physical strength and then he signed with Villarreal CF.

He made his senior debut for the reserves in the Segunda Division B on 7 February 2015. 

On 24 May 2018, He signed a five-year contract for a fee of 20 million euros plus 5 million in variables with Atletico Madrid. 

He made his debut for Atletico on 8 August 2018 in the UEFA Super Cup in Tallinn. 

In 2019, He joined Premier League club Manchester City and as he was on a five-year contract with Atletico Madrid they triggered his 62.8 million euros.

He made his Manchester debut in the 2019 FA Community Shield on 4 august 2019. 

Rodri has represented Spain on the international level at various ages at under-16, under-19, and under-21 and at the senior level.

 Rodri first club was Rayo Majadohonda. Later when he was 11 he went to Atletico Madrid youth in 2007 and was there till 2013.

In 2015 he made his senior debut for the reserves as a late substitute in a 3-1 away win.

He scored his first goal in the Spanish top level against RCD Espanyol in 2018. 

Till 2018 he has played 63 matches and scored 1 goal for Villarreal CF. 

Later in 2018 he was back with Atletico Marid and made his debut against Real Madrid in a 4-2 extra time-win. 

Rodri scored his first goal in a 3-2 win against Atlantic Bilbao for Atletico Madrid on 10 November 2018.

He has played 34 matches and scored 3 goals for the club.

Then in 2019, he went to Premier League club Manchester City.  

On 10 August 2019, he made his Premier League debut in a 5-0 win against West Ham United.

He helped the city lift the EFL Cup at Wembley Stadium for the third time in a row on 1 March 2020.

Recently he scored the city’s first goal from a penalty in a 3-0 win against Tottenham Hotspurs. 

Internationally, he represented Spain at various age levels.  

On 24 March 2018, he made his debut for the senior national team.

In 2020, Rodri scored his first goal for Spain in a match against Germany.
