ATK are set to host Chennaiyin FC in their third home game of the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season at the Salt Lake Stadium, on Friday. The Kolkatan outfit’s head coach Steve Coppell has admitted that his side haven’t had the best of starts but that they have shown improvement in the last two games.
“It was obviously a slow start. The first game we lost 2-0 (against Kerala Blasters) and it wasn’t a good match for us. In the second game (1-0 loss to NorthEast United), we shot ourselves in the foot. We shut ourselves after a man was sent-off. Against Jamshedpur (1-1 draw), we fought hard. We look forward with optimism to the next few games. We will try and put us in a good position,” he said.
ATK’s last win was when they defeated Delhi Dynamos 2-1 in Delhi after the international break. As the side is looking for their first win at home, the Englishman feels that it is essential for a top team to have a good home record.
