After the solid performance on day 3. India were looking good at the start of day 4. Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja started off cautiously. Ravindra Jadeja was trapped in front by Chris woakes before he dismissed Indian vice captain Ajinkya Rahane a few balls later.

Shardul Thakur has become the pic of the Indian batsman in this ongoing test series. Thakur displayed a great technique and a positive mind set at the wicket.
Thakur scored his second consecutive test fifty. The Mumbai fast bowler is turning out to be a great batting asset for India lower down the order. Along with , Rishabh Pant was also seen at his partial best. The wicketkeeper batsman registered his first 50 on the tour and looked very relieved.

Fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Umesh Yadav took on the English bowling attack and played some beautiful shots round the park. Small contributions like these help in setting up big totals for any opposition to chase.
England looking resilient and steady.
Haseeb Hameed and Rory burns have looked really solid at the top for England. The two English openers have look comfortable against the Indian bowling attack and have not given away a any chances to the bowlers on which day can capitalize.
Because of them England are in a strong position. England now need 291 runs to win on the final day of the penalty made test match. The target is is difficult to chase, but is not impossible to achieve. England will be hoping that they are able to at least salvage a draw.
