After winning the 2019 ODI WORLD CUP for the first time, England will be looking to lay their hands on the T20 World Cup Trophy for the second time after 2010. England won the 2010 T20 World Cup which took place in West Indies, Englishmen thrashed the Aussies in the final of the 2010 T20 WC. This time, England is the big favorite and is in the group of death with Australia, South Africa, and defending champions West Indies, all in the same pool.
CAN THEY REPEAT THE 2010 T20 WORLD CUP PERFORMANCE ???
TEAM PREVIEW :
England has had a good run in T20 cricket and holding the No.1 position in the ICC Rankings. The current form of England is pretty good with 10 wins out of 14 T20i’s, they have played in the last four series. They played their last T20 international against Sri Lanka in June and the gap has been immense since then.
ENGLAND SQUAD :
MAIN HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SQUAD :
Sam Curran out of T20 World Cup
Sam Curran has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup and the remaining part of IPL 2021. Curran complained about his back problem during the match against Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021. Sam is suffering from a lower-back injury and will fly back to the UK for treatment. His brother Tom Curran has been added into the squad with Reece Topley making in the list of reserves.
Tymal Mills given a chance in the squad
An out-of-the-box decision is made by the England Cricket Board for the T20 World Cup 2021. They added Tymal Mills, who featured in an international game for England four years ago. He has performed well in the T20 Blast and in previous years. The left-arm speedster has different variations and has made a difficult for world-class batsmen.
BOWLING STATS OF TYMAL MILLS :
No Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer available
World’s best all-rounder Ben Stokes and World Cup winner Jofra Archer are not available for the T20 World Cup, hence they were not selected in the squad. Ben Stokes has taken an indefinite break from all formats of cricket citing mental health issues due to bio-bubble fatigue and a jam-packed schedule. Whereas, Jofra Archer is suffering from an elbow injury which he picked up playing during the South Africa tour in January 2020. The speedster has been sidelined from cricket for the whole year and hence he will not be taking part in the Ashes later this year.
