Matthias Lukas Ginter is an international footballer who plays for the Germany National Team and Borussia Mönchengladbach. Ginter represented the youth teams of Germany in the U-18, U-19, U20, U-21, u-23 levels.
Ginter was born 19 January 1994, in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany. He started playing football when he was 4 years old for SV March.
Ginter represented the youth teams of Germany in the U-18, u-19, U-20, U-21, U23 levels. He represented the U-21 team at the 2015 European Championship in the Czech Republic. On 5 March 2014, Ginter made his senior team debut. He was the youngest player selected in the 2014 FIFA World cup squad, which eventually won the cup. Ginter was selected to play for Germany in the 2016 Summer Olympics and won the silver medal. Matthias represented Germany for the 2018 FIFA World cup.
Ginter began his career with SV March at the age of four. He then moved to the youth squad of SC Freiburg for the 2005–06 season. On 21 January 2012, Ginter made his professional debut for SC Freiburg. on 23 January 2012, Ginter signed a contract to join the first team of SC Freiburg. On 17 July 2014 Ginter signed for Borussia Dortmund. He made his debut for Borussia Dortmund on 13 August 2014. On 4 July 2017, Ginter signed with Borussia Dortmund rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach and has made more than 100 appearances. Ginter scored his first goal for Germany on 16 November 2019
