THE JOURNEY OF DEAN HENDERSON

Dean Bradley Henderson is an international footballer who plays for the England National Team and Manchester United. Henderson has represented England at under-16under-17under-20under-21, and senior levels.

EARLY LIFE

Henderson was born on 12th March 1997 in Whitehaven, Cumbria. Dean played county cricket as a schoolboy but chose football. Henderson joined the Manchester United academy aged 14 before spending six years at Carlisle United.

Career

International

Henderson has represented England at under-16under-17under-20, and under-21 levels and also the senior level. Henderson was selected for the under-20 team for the first time, in August 2016. He made his National Team U20 debut on 1 September 2016. Henderson was hence selected in the National Team under-20 squad for the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in May 2017. Dean was selected for the under-21 for the first time, In August 2017. Henderson was named as England’s for the 2019 UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

On 8 October 2019, Dean Henderson was called up to the senior England squad for the first time. Making his debut on 12 November 2020.

CLUB

Henderson joined the Manchester United academy when he was 14 years old. Henderson signed his first professional contract with Manchester United, In August 2015. He was later loaned out to different clubs until he was back with the club at the beginning of the 2020-21 premier league season. He was initially the second-choice keeper until David De Gea saw a dip in his form and Henderson took full advantage and became the first choice of Manchester United.

Winner of the Sheffield United Community Player of the Year 2018–19,
