Messi’s International Troubles

This has been Messi’s best international year in his career.
Leo Messi has seen some tough times with Argentina, having lost three Copa America finals, one world cup final and he threatened to retire in 2016 after a final defeat, but came back and reversed his decision.

Messi finally got his hands on the Copa America, as Argentina beat Brazil in the final’s of the tournament this year.

Argentina Vs Bolivia

Last night Argentina played Bolivia in a world cup qualifier. The Argentina squad would present their Copa America trophy in front of all the fans for the first time.

This was an emotional night for Messi, as not only was it the first International trophy of his career, he came the leading south-American goalscorer.


Leo Messi scored a hat-trick as Argentina beat Bolivia 3-0 in their world cup qualifier. Messi got goals number 77,78 and 79 last night, to be the stand-alone number one in CONMEBOL’s men’s goalscoring list, surpassing Pele.

Messi’s three goals also made him surpass his good mates Suarez and Neymar as the highest scorer in CONMEBOL’s world cup qualifiers.

Messi stated that winning the Copa America was the most difficult trophy triumph of his career. He has longly waited for this moment and was full of tears of joy when presenting the trophy in front of Argentinean Fans.

“I really wanted to be able to enjoy it,” Messi said after the match. “I waited a long time for this, I looked for it and I dreamed of it. It’s a unique moment for the way it happened after so much waiting.

“There was no better way to celebrate this than to be here. My mother, my brothers are in the stands… They suffered a lot and today, they are here celebrating. I’m very happy.”
