Cristiano Ronaldo is into the final year of his contract at Juventus. Also, the Turin club is keen to sell him but wants £25m for the Portugal captain. 36-year-old has told Juventus he no longer wants to play for the club.
Manchester City is in talks to sign Portugese from Juventus.
The Portugal captain, through his agent Jorge Mendes, has told Juventus that he no longer wants to play for the club.
Ronaldo is in the final year of his contract in Turi. Also, he was not in City’s plans this summer. Although, he is an option which they are considering after the Premier League champions missed out on signing England captain Harry Kane from Tottenham.
Major stumbling blocks to any potential deal are the £25m fees. It is what Juventus are demanding for the 36-year-old forward and his £500,000 a week wages.
Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 for a fee in the region of £105m. After that, hehe has scored 101 goals in 134 games for the club. Also, he has helped them to two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia crown, and two Italian Super Cups.
Sky in Italy is reporting City is willing to offer Ronaldo a two-year contract, with a salary of £12.8m-per-season (€15m).
He is currently earning €31m (£26.6m) per year after tax at the Allianz Stadium.
There is still some way to go before a deal can be concluded. Also, the time is right to complete a deal before Tuesday’s transfer window deadline.
Ronaldo wants to carry on playing at the highest level for as long as possible. Also, not everyone at City has convinced the former Manchester United player is what they need.
Juventus, who want to sell Ronaldo before his contract expires next summer, is in advanced talks to sign Moise Kean from Everton, who scored 17 goals in 41 games while on loan at Paris-Saint Germain last season.
Pep on Ronaldo: “I’d love it”
Guardiola once admitted he would “love” to work with a player of the caliber of Ronaldo at Manchester City, bemoaning the fact his squad didn’t have a player like that.
“We don’t have a single player who can win a game, we don’t have a Cristiano, [Lionel] Messi, a Neymar,” said Guardiola.
“We don’t have these types of players who can win games by themselves. I told the players many times, you have to play as a team.
“I will be honest. I’d like to have a player to score, every single game, four goals, and run like these players can run. I would love it.”
