Barcelona is now mathematically out of the La Liga title race. All credit goes to a 2-1 loss to Celta Vigo in their home finale at Camp Nou. Barça started well and took the lead early. But as usual, under Ronald Koeman, they always suffer in the second half. Here also they fell apart in the second half. Celta Vigo got a late winner at 89th minute at Camp Nou. Eventually, it can be the last home game for Messi as wearing Barca’s jersey.
Barcelona’s FIRST HALF
Barcelona was the better side for the first 30 minutes. They dominated in terms of possession and managing to create good situations against Celta. The total Barca team was too dangerous whenever Lionel Messi touched the ball
The captain gave the lead to Barca. Here also same credit goes to Sergio Busquets. He delivered a beautiful ball into the box. It found Messi’s head smoothly and Messi made no mistake.
Normally It is very rare to watch a header goal from Messi. But in this Barca team, Messi needed to do almost everything own. After that Barca players started to lose the easy balls and gave chance to Celta to make a comeback in this game. All thanks to Gerrard’s pique for a terrible defense from where Santi Mina scored the equalizer.
At halftime, the whole scenario changed. A game that looked like in Barca’s hands was changed. It got away from them and Celta Looked stronger team in the second half.
Barcelona’s SECOND HALF
There was a surprise substitution at the half. Riqui Puig came on for Pedri. That was good for Riqui Puig as he will get more playtime but it was not good for the context of the game. Moriba was alone in that position who was not so experienced. Celta looked very dangerous in every counterattack. Celta slowly grew into the game and Barca’s midfield could not manage this pressure.
Also, Clément Lenglet was sent off for two yellow cards in 10 minutes. Barça’s defense was wide open and couldn’t hang on to the result. After a Kevin Vázquez cross hit the post, Santi Mina scored on the rebound against an open net, and the visitors earned a late lead.
Martin Braithwaite missed a sitter at the end. Also, Messi couldn’t be the savior this time, and the final whistle came to end another disaster for Barça, who is officially out of the title race. This was awful.
