England vs Sri Lanka
The last T20 match in England vs Sri Lanka is about to go underway in a few hours at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. The results of the first two matches were not that Sri Lanka would want to look at right now. Both the matches were completely dominated by the home side. Batting first, Sri Lanka could not get big scores in any of the matches. 50 by Dasun Shanaka, in the first match, is the highest score from the Sri Lanka side in this series. England looked comfortable in the home conditions during the chase and got the results.
England currently is leading the series by 2-0, and they have looked very comfortable. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, has not adapted to the conditions well. They have not been in their best of forms, and have given away the series without any real fight. In this match, England has the perfect opportunity to whitewash the visitors.
The Southampton pitches can get a little dry if the weather is clear, which might assist a little bit to the spinners. But the fast bowlers are still the best way to go forward and take wickets.
Sri Lanka would look to stabilize their batting lineup and make more runs with a different approach. Sticking to the basics of playing shots with the intent of scoring runs, and not just sticking around is the best way to counter the English conditions.
The team winning the toss would look to bat first and make as many runs as possible and defend them later on.
Players to watch out for
Adil Rashid- Southampton pitches can get dry and assist spinners. Adil Rashid has been a brilliant mystery bowler for England, and he also is the leading wicket-taker in this series.
Jason Roy- He has is a genuine striker of the ball and a very effective player in white-ball cricket. He has batted with a decent strike rate of 135 in the two matches. He should be able to continue this in the last match.
Sam Curran- Curran is a pure all-rounder. He can score quickly and also pick up wickets. He surely is amongst England’s top performers.
