Even though her chances looked thin, Dutee Chand has finally qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The star Indian Sprinter has qualified for the games via the World Ranking System.
There were a total of 22 spots available for the 100 m sprint category and15 spots in the 200 m category. Dutee Chand has qualified for both categories.
After the injury of Hima Das India’s chances at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 had already become thin. After Dutee failed to qualify at the Grand Prix 4 the sprinting fraternity was in despair.
While Dutee is ranked 44th in world in 100m, in 200m she is on the 51st spot.
Last week the Indian Grand Prix 4 in the Indian city of Patiala, Dutee broke her own 100m national record, which clocked 11.7 seconds to miss the automatic Olympic qualification time by 0.02 seconds.
