West Indies vs Sri Lanka
The second test, of West Indies vs Sri Lanka, will be played on the 29th of March at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua at 7:30 p.m. (IST). One match has already been played in the series that ended in a draw.
Both the teams played better than what was expected from them, especially, Sri Lanka. The first inning was not their best. They were all out for 169 runs, Lahiru Thirimanne was the highest scorer with 70 runs. They restricted West Indies for 210 while bowling. Rahkeem Cornwall was their highest scorer with 61 runs. Lasith Embuldeniya, for Sri Lanka took a four-fer.
In the second innings, Sri Lanka rectified their batting situation and scored 476 runs. Thirimanne once again scored a half-century. Oshada Fernando, Dhananjaya de Silva, and Niroshan Dickwella also scored half-centuries. Pathum Nissanka was their hero. He scored a century on his debut. Sri Lanka gave West Indies a target of 375 runs with over a day’s play remaining.
To save this match, West Indies had to show resilience. Because Sri Lanka had enough time to take 10 wickets. They lost two wickets quickly, but Nkrumah Booner and Kyle Mayers stayed in the middle. They made a partnership of 105 until Mayers was dismissed by Embuldeniya. Booner went on to score a century and remained not out. The match ended in a draw, with Sri Lanka picking only 4 wickets.
Sri Lanka lost the T20 series and ODI series as well. Now they would want to win the next match and the series as well. All they have to do is not let West indies settle down and bowl with more intensity.
