South Africa have toured West Indies for a long tour. They defeated West Indies by 2-0 in the Test series. Quinton De Cock was the player of the series. We now move on to the T20 leg. First T20 will be played today at 2pm local time i.e. 11:30 pm IST. Here’s a brief preview of the same
West Indies have compiled a thunderstorm of a squad. When we talk about a T20 squad, we think of anchors, power hitters, sloggers. But, West Indian side contains just power hitters. Gayle, Simmons, Lewis, Hetmyer, Pooran, Pollar, Russel. Just incredible. In the T20 side, only Jason Holder played the Test series against South Africa. This shows the depth of West Indian cricket accross formats. All the players are fresh with mindset and their role. But their bowling is a big concern
South Africa on the other hand have a lot of players who were part of the Test squad and are to start in the T20s as well. Temba Bavuma, the new captain said in a press conference “As much as it was a different format, a number of those guys are involved in the T20I stuff, so it’s only natural that they will carry that confidence into this series.”
Temba Bavuma will play his first T20 series as a captain for South Africa. South Africa need to get a lot of things right in their batting department. Van der Dussen and Klaasen will be playing an important role. Although there is De cock to take responsibility, other batsmen need to step up. Their bowlers are well suited to this format of the game. Rabada-Ngidi_Norjte with Linde and Shamshi.
Match will be played at St George’s, Grenada. The weather reports just a little rain in the course of play. Hurricane is expected. Despite rain forecaste, the pitch would be handy for sloggers and complete batsmen. PAst two days saw rain. For today, 67% rain chances.
