Shakib Al Hasan now has the most wickets in T20 World Cups. The numbers are impressive- 41.
After a couple of low-scoring matches, fans witnessed some batting blitzes in the T20 World Cup 2021. Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have faced each other in their respective first match of the Super 12 stage. Also, some quality cricket was on display. The Bangla Tigers would have been confident after posting 171/4 while batting first. However, the Tigers were stunned by the Lions as the Lankan side recorded a five-wicket triumph.
Sri Lanka won the crucial toss and opted to bowl at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh didn’t receive substantial contributions from Liton Das and Shakib Al Hasan. They both have failed to score. However, Mohammad Naim joined forces with Mushfiqur Rahim. This duo steadied the ship. Both dashers scored half-centuries and Bangladesh posted 171/4.
Chasing the challenging total, Sri Lanka lost Kusal Perera early and looked on the backfoot. Pathum Nissanka also got dismissed after scoring 24. While the Lions looked in trouble, youngsters Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa stepped up and scored remarkable half-centuries. Riding on their brilliance, Sri Lanka crossed the line with seven balls to spare.
Also, Bangladeshi fans can blame Liton Das as he dropped an easy chance of Aslanka, and then he has only scored 8. Bhanuka Rajapaskshe has scored 51 and it was a great inning. The young stars should give credit. Hasaranga has failed to produce any wicket.
