In the 12th match of PSL 2021 between Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United, the Gladiators continued their losing streak. They have played four matches this season and have lost all of them. The toss is also a factor to be considered here. They have lost the toss in all the matches and have been asked to bat first in all of them. Their poor performance, however, is not because of the toss. They just have not been up to the mark. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is the only one who has been consistent and confident. Others have made small contributions, but nothing noteworthy.
First Innings
Quetta Gladiators were put in to bat first. During the powerplay, they lost four wickets. Early on in the innings, we saw some movement in the ball on very particular balls. The ball pitched on the good-length and in the line of middle and leg stump was coming in quickly to the pads of batsmen. Sarfaraz Ahmed played this to his advantage. He was pulling these balls over mid-wicket and square leg. Sarfaraz was using the sweep shot effectively against spinners. He did not get support from anybody else, and they set a target of 157 runs.
Second Innings
Paul Stirling gave Islamabad a quick start. The match was pretty much in control of Islamabad throughout. After Sterling completed his fifty in 21 balls, he became a bit slow and got out to Zahid Mahmood. But that was not a problem for them, Shadab Khan and Asif Ali handled the innings and got them through in 17 overs.
