The 29-year old cricketer is presenting a strong case in front of the selectors for T20 World Cup starting in a month’s time. Chase is giving a lot of door-breaking performances in the CPL 2021. His performances with both the bat and bowl is providing the selectors with an all-rounder option and a frontline spinner option.
TEST ARENA – ENOUGH TO PROVE HIMSELF for WEST INDIES ?
The off-spin allrounder has played 41 test matches for Windies. He has showed his mettle in the test arena with his tough batting and consistent bowling performances. He has scored 1996 runs at with 5 hundred under his belt. He has taken 71 wickets with a great economy of 3.45 with 3 five-fers.
But his white-ball performances hasn’t been great.
NO WHITE-BALL GAME OVER A YEAR :
Chase hasn’t made his T20 debut in the brown colours. He made his ODI debut for Windies 4 years back and played his last white-ball game an year ago against Sri Lanka. This means he hasn’t been able to get a chance in the one-day format. But this can be the chance for him to cement his place in the One-day format also. He has featured in 30 games, only taking 15 wickets but with a very picky economy of 4.83. This means, even though he is not taking a lot of wickets but he is being economical in his spells.
PERFORMANCE IN CARIBBEAN PREMIER LEAGUE (CPL 2021):
Roston Chase plays for Saint Lucia Kings in the Carribean Premier League 2021. He is the highest run scorer in the tournament till now, Chase has tonked 241 runs in 6 innings at an exceptional strike rate of 157.51. His highest score in this season is 85. Equally important is his bowling which is making batsmen lives difficult in the tournament. Even though he has picked only 6 wickets but he has been more economical at a strike rate of 20.
