T20 World Cup 2021: Match 37, India vs Scotland Match Preview

Rohit Sharma needs only 48 runs to become the third male batter after Virat Kohli and Martin Guptill to notch 3000 T20I runs. India and Scotland are set to cross swords in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 on Friday, November 5. This match is at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. The Men in Blue, led by Virat Kohli, got their campaign back on track with a dominating 66-run win over Afghanistan on Wednesday.

India’s job is yet not done as they are placed fourth in the points table in Group 2. Scotland, on the other hand, has already been knocked out of the competition. Having lost all three of their games, the Scots are the cellar dwellers in their group. In their previous game, New Zealand beat them by 16 runs.

Virat Kohli speaks publicly only for the 2nd time since NZ defeat, admits India's situation is 'tricky' at T20 World Cup | Cricket - Hindustan Times

Scotland almost snatched a victory against New Zealand and is all set to make the biggest upset this year. Although, their brilliant fight, they were just 16 runs short. But for India, not only a win is enough. India needs to increase their run rates also. Although, if New Zealand will not lose the remaining matches then no equation will work.

Pitch Report

Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Pitch Report, And Records For IPL - Sentinelassam

The pitch in Dubai is starting to get better for batting in the T20 World Cup. The bowlers, however, are expected to make hay on the surface. The batters need to be a tad careful while playing shots on the up. Batting second should be the preferred option for teams.

Rohit Sharma (India)

Stats - Rohit Sharma-KL Rahul's reassurance at top and Rishabh Pant-Hardik Pandya's record finish

Rohit Sharma couldn’t get going in the matches against Pakistan and New Zealand, but he made amends against Afghanistan. In India’s previous game, he bagged the Player of the Match award after scoring 74 off 47 with the help of eight fours and three sixes. The right-hander is also 48 runs short of becoming the third male batter after Virat Kohli and Martin Guptill to notch 3000 T20I runs.

India Probable best bowler of the match

Ravi Ashwin (India)

Ravi Ashwin made his T20I comeback on Wednesday after a gap of four years. Despite not playing for so long, the veteran didn’t show signs of nervousness. Ashwin turned out to be India’s most economical bowler with figures of 4-0-14-2. The tweaker got the prized wickets of Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran to push the Afghan batting lineup on the backfoot.

Prediction: India to win the match.
