IPL is that big stage where everyone wants to play and get their name in this cricket world. And in this segment we have gone talk about PBKS vs RCB memorable moments which took place over the years and created a memorable, epic, enthusiastic Saga of PUNJAB KINGS (PBKS) VS ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB) Memorable Moments.
In more than 10 IPL seasons we witnessed bizarre, strange and unimaginable matches which went on the wire and created a fantastic environment. While there were a few which were offbeat and and just came in life within a span of few overs. These two power houses always had a thriller between them. The teams each year had a match to remember but this tale is all about the special one in which one batter, bowler or team had a day/ night to remember.
Who took wickets and who made the most runs who made the things lively, we talk about PUNJAB KINGS (PBKS) VS ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB) Memorable Moments.
2011, Dharamshala lit up as Punjab captain Gilchrist hit 106 to take the team past 232/2. Beat RCB by 111 runs
A day to remember for fans of Punjab Kings as they don’t often score so big on board. But in 2011, Dharamshala, batting pitch and Punjab after winning the toss chose to bat first. Adam Gilchrist, then the clean hitter of the ball. He stepped in along with Paul Valthaty.
The start was average and the early wicket fell for Punjab at 25 and then Shaun Marsh stepped on the pitch. There were overflowing runs and a six in each over was the target. Adam with 9 sixes and 8 fours made a heavy score of 106 off just 55 balls. Shaun was giving him the other hand in his hitting. Marsh then on the other played an innings of 79 off 49 with 7 fours and 5 sixes.
A total of 232 on board and all eyes on Gayle to fire. Fans overjoyed the wicket of opener Gayle on 0 and 6 from S.Tiwary. Virat Kohli was then not sublime in his career and went early on 11. Was this the time to handle the later half of the innings? ABD, no he could not do a big turnaround and went back to pavilion after 34 playing a slow innings. Kaif, Mithun, Asad and the down order went early. 121 all out in 17 overs and back to the dressing room.
The match has been a one sided affair but the sixes and the first innings looked amazing. Punjab fans looked super fantastic that day.
2013, Miller fired 100 off just 38 to clear 194 run target in just 18 overs.
A tale of 2013, Punjab won the toss and it was to field first. Pujara and Gayle opened for RCB that day and Pujara made a very slow 50 score off 48 balls. And as always you hardly see a six off Pujara’s bat. Gayle was handy and put 61 of 33 until got bowled by Gony. Kohli 14 and out. ABD 38 off 19 with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Henriques 16 off 7 took the total to 190/3.
Top order fumbled and then came the destroyer, David Miller. 101 off 38 balls! Silence.
Single handedly took the match away from RCB Royal Challengers Bangalore.
A very short tale to talk about in our PUNJAB KINGS (PBKS) VS ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB) Memorable Moments.
The highlights have a different memory to recall the match.
2016, Hard made harder by Kohli and company, hit 211 in 15 overs and won by 82 runs.
A 15 over match and what to expect at Bangalore Ground. Rainbow washed the game and what we wanted as fans was some fireworks from both the ends. With stitches in his left thumb, Kohli and Gayle stepped in to put in some hefty runs for the team but after then there was no stopping of the ball inside the boundary line. Gayle smashed 73 off 32 balls which included eight sixes while Kohli went on to drive and drive and drive to put a score to 113 off 50 balls hitting 12 fours and eight sixes. De Villiers went on cheap, zero. Rahul the then wicket-keeper made a 16 of six which led to a total of huge 211/3.
The Punjab fans went home after the half innings just because the runs were too much on board that could be chased on that particular day. But the tale has to end on one side or the other. After batters it was the bowlers turn to pull the best out of them. Punjab under pressure thought of hitting big but the boundary line was not crossed even single time. Saha being the top scorer with 24 off 10 balls. Y.Chahal was developing at a great pace and was at his peak. Being close to purple cap that season Chahal took 4 wickets of the Punjab lads. The tale was memorable as RCB threw everything at batting. This makes out PUNJAB KINGS (PBKS) VS ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB) Memorable Moments.
2020, Punjab Kings top order smashed runs to chase down 172 in their 20.
A match of the IPL season which took place at Sharjah, Dubai. RCB won the toss and were on the field to bat first. This lineup of RCB was the most destructive one over the year from top to bottom of the order. Finch 20 and Paddikal 18 was not the start RCB franchise wanted against Punjab Kings. Kohli stepped in, which looked to be a slow pitch. Making 48 off 39 with just 3 fours was the anchor of an innings.
Sundar, Dube, ABD added just 40 runs in total. Morris in at 7 put 25 off 8 and took the score to 171/6.
Punjab top order had the onus to pull this encounter. KL Rahul and Mayank gave the start they wanted. Mayank went at a strike rate of 200 and got back to pavilion on 45 off 25 with 4×4 and 3×6. Gayle was then in that season not a starter for Punjab but came down one down the order. Gayle is not a man who plays an innings of patience. This match he hit 53 off 45 which then included 5 sixes and 1 four.
The scenario came in as a couple of runs needed in the last over and Chahal with the ball. The over was well spent giving 1 run off 5 balls. 1 off 1 and Pooran in and straight six to finish things off. The match ends with a win on the Punjab side but there is more in this. This makes out PUNJAB KINGS (PBKS) VS ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE (RCB) Memorable Moments.
2021, Punjab Boys lose in a narrow encounter by 6 runs.
Back in Dubai due to Covid and back at Sharjah. All set, the same ground but different outcomes. As always the pitch was slow. Did we see a stronghold on the bat, no! The match has the same average score as everyone else. Bowlers did pave the way for RCB to get a win from nowhere. Kohli and Padikkal opened the innings with their score being 25 and 40 and that too below average in a T-20 match. Maxwell came out of nowhere to hit a score of 57 off 33 balls and then after nothing in the next few overs and a score of 164 touched. Two bowlers with 3 wickets each were Shami and Henriques.
If Royal Challengers Bangalore had one, Punjab had one too. It was Mayank Aggarwal who scored 57 off 42 and KL Rahul with 39 off 35. To win a match you need to carry on with the match and the Punjab middle order had other plans. Scoring nothing in the sense of a tumbled middle order. Henriques and Harpreet on crease and 19 needed off the final over. Purple cap holder to bowl and not conceded many just 12.
Again Chahal being the man with 3 wickets. Is he the man to click with his best balls to get wickets. Or Punjab are still confused to play against his spin?
This is the end to our saga of these two big teams.
