International cricket is finally resuming in Pakistan with the three-match ODI series between the hosts and Zimbabwe. The two teams will also lock horns in three T20 Internationals later. Cricket returned to the country amidst the COVID-19 pandemic with the National T20 Cup and Quaid-e-Azam trophy. Babar Azam will be leading Pakistan at home for the first time as well.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe, under leadership of Chamu Chibhabha, will be keen on playing better cricket over the six limited-overs matches in Pakistan. They have the veteran batsmen like Sean Williams, Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza among many others. But their bowling has been lacking that spice when it comes to picking wickets. Even at the death, Zimbabwe have struggled a lot and they will be hoping to stun Pakistan at some stage.
Where to watch the match live?
Even as Pakistan and Zimbabwe are set to face each other in the opening game of the ODI series, the cricket fans are wondering where to watch the game live. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has solved the fans’ problem and they will be showing the matches live on their official Youtube channel. The board confirmed it on their official Twitter handle an hour before the match on Friday.
Meanwhile, as far as the 1st ODI as concerned, Pakistan have won the toss and opted to bat first. Rawalpindi is known to dish out flat decks and if the domestic One-Day tournament in 2019 is concerned, the 300-run mark was crossed in seven out of 11 matches by the team batting first. The lowest score in that tournament at the venue was 269.
So expect the hosts to have fun batting on the pitch with the likes of Abid Ali and Imam-ul-Haq opening the innings. Pakistan have also handed the ODI debut to Haris Rauf while Usman Qadir will have to wait for his chance. As for Zimbabwe, they will be hoping to restrict Pakistan to a decent total and then chase it down.
