IPL 2021 and Covid: Impact of Covid on IPL 2021

India currently is witnessing a rise in Covid cases because of the 2nd wave. The country is witnessing close to 375000 cases each day the frontline workers are tirelessly working for the people but there are shortage of certain necessary medical items for treatment of Covid patients like oxygen, hospital beds, remdesivir injections. Players and Teams  from the Indian premier league have come up and made donations so that theres no shortage of supplies and people are cured .

IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals Donate Funds For Covid-19 Relief  in India

THE donations made by the Teams, IPL 2021 and Covid:

  • RAJASTHAN ROYALS: Have made a contribution of 7.5 Crore Rupees. The Royals said in an official statement “Rajasthan Royals is pleased to announce a contribution of INR 7.5 Crores (over $1mn). Towards Covid Relief to help with immediate support to people in India impacted by the surge of Covid-19 virus,”. The Royals will be making the contribution through the team’s philanthropic arm the Rajasthan Royals Foundation. And the British Asian Trust.
  • DELHI CAPITALS:- Have made a contribution of 1.5 crore rupees. “Delhi Capitals and its patrons, the @JSWFoundation & GMR Varalakshmi Foundation are offering financial support amounting to INR 1.5 Cr to NCR based NGOs. The @Hemkunt_Fdn and the @UdayFoundation. The donations will be used to procure essential medical supplies, ranging from oxygen cylinders and concentrators to COVID Wellness Kits,” the Delhi Capitals said in a social media statement.

Royal Challengers Bangalore on this Situation:-

ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGLORE: Have made an undisclosed contribution. And have pledged to donate the proceeds from the auction of their special Blue jersey. That they would be donning for 1 match in the season.

“RCB has identified key areas where much-needed help is required immediately in healthcare infrastructure related to Oxygen support in Bangalore. And other cities and will be making a financial contribution towards this. RCB is going to be sporting a special Blue jersey in one of the upcoming matches with key messaging on our match kits to pay our respect and show solidarity to all the front-line heroes. who have spent majority of last year wearing PPE kits & leading the fight against the pandemic. RCB will also auction all the signed player jerseys from this game to raise money and add to our earlier financial contribution. Supporting healthcare infrastructure. We urge all of you to stay safe at home and get vaccinated at the earliest opportunity,”
