Let’s have a preview of Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2021 UAE Leg.
The version 2.0 for Rajasthan Royals
The winners of the inaugural edition of the IPL have not been able to match the standards they set back in the early years of the tournament. Rajasthan Royals have always been a force to reckon with. But they always fail to utilize the firepower in hand well.
A star-studded lineup with a mix of good domestic and Indian national players alongside foreign superstars. Rajasthan always fails to find the killer edge in their side. The Royals will begin their second leg campaign against the Punjab Kings on 21st September 2021.
The side is led by a young Sanju Samson. They are currently holding the fifth spot in the league standings with a total of six points to their name in the seven matches they featured. It all happened in the first half of the tournament.
Big Guns Morris And Samson
The costliest all-rounder in the form of Chris Morris was bought for a whopping price of INR 16.25 crores has come good for the team. He has 14 scalps to his name in the 7 matches played.
He is also the third-highest wicket-taker in the side. Captain Samson has amassed 277 runs in 7 innings at an average of 46.16 which includes a hundred that came against the Punjab side in their inaugural encounter of this IPL.
Significant Absentees for Rajasthan Royals:
Evin Lewis and Oshane Thomas are called up in place of English stalwarts Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes. New signing Glenn Phillips will have big shoes to fill in the absence of T20 ace Jofra Archer. Archer is the main bowling asset for the Royals.
Taking wickets with a healthy economy rate in the last 3 seasons. He will be dearly missed by the Royals during the death overs. Liam Livingstone is also in line to miss the restart due to injury.
Tabrez Shamsi is brought into the line-up in place of Andrew Tye to solve the bowling misery for Rajasthan. The world number one will be ready to prove his worth.
Evin Lewis is all fired up and looking to make up for the miss opportunities during his stint with the Mumbai Indians. Oshane Thomas in the previous stint with the Royals picked up five wickets at an economy rate of 7.90.
