With a finger injury, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. Sundar acquired the injury in the month of July. He was also ruled out of England Series because of the injury. He was expected to be out for 6 weeks due to the injury. RCB thought that he will be fit for the second-half of IPL.
He had returned to India from England after sustaining a finger injury in the practice match against County XI. The 21-year-old, who was also one of three players to fly back to India from England, along with Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, appeared in six IPL matches during the first half of the season. He grabbed three wickets.
Washington Sundar being ruled out of this year’s tournament is a huge blow for Virat and Co. As Sundar was one of the key members of the Royal Challengers Bangalore playing XI. He bowled the team’s opening overs, middle overs, and sometimes death overs. Also, he was highly economical in the process due to his consistent action and variations. His batting also gave RCB a lot of benefit in both team selection and runs from down the order.
There is a cloud over his availability for the T20 World Cup.
Akashdeep Singh, a Bengal cricketer who has been with the franchise as a net bowler is called as a replacement. This is going to be a very huge opportunity for Akashdeep.
