Rajasthan Royals vs Delhi Capitals IPL 2022 Highlights: Mitchell Marsh scored 89 off 62 and David Warner scored his fifth half century of the season and a 144-run partnership between the pair helped Delhi Capitals chase down a target of 161 with eight wickets and 11 balls to spare.

RR vs DC, Match Review:

David Warner and Mitchell Marsh put up a 144-run partnership that negated any advantage that Rajasthan Royals may have got from getting a wicket off the second ball of the Delhi Capitals innings. Both batters had their fair share of luck.

Marsh could have been LBW off the very first ball he faced if RR had gone for the DRS while Warner survived as he was bowled by Yuzvendra Chahal but the bails did not come off. Marsh scored 89 off 62 balls while Warner was unbeaten on 52 off 41. This was Warner’s fifth half century of the season. Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin turned out to be the unlikely star of the Rajasthan Royals’ batting effort as he scored a 38-ball 50 after being sent in at No.3.

He put up 53-run stand for the fourth wicket with Devdutt Padikkal, who scored 48 off 30 balls. However, Delhi Capitals managed to pull things back in the last five overs, giving away just 44 runs and taking three wickets to restrict RR to 160/6.

Post-Match Presentation:

Mitchell Marsh after taking his man of the match award,

Was a tough game. Physically it’s tough when you bowl a bit and bat a bit. Slower balls and cutters, they were tough to score. 160 was par. But it’s about one good partnership. The first four-five overs of powerplay were about as tough a batting as I’ve had in T20 cricket. It was swinging, bit of seam there and there was bounce. Reminds me of Perth Stadium this wicket. Felt like the last couple of games I’ve got back to hitting the ball like I wanted to. I honestly thought I smashed it first, wasn’t worried one bit. Which is probably a good thing because I tend to look guilty when I think I’m out.

Rishabh Pant, the skipper of Delhi, says it was very close to a perfect game but there is always room for improvement. Mentions you can bowl and bat first on such wickets but bowling first suits them. Adds 140 to 160 would have been a good score for them and they kept them around that. Mentions they will look to give their 100 percent and look to win all the games. Mentions they need to be better in fielding. He is hopeful of Shaw returning but for now he is quite sick.
