Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals IPL 2022 Highlights: Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets to help RCB make the playoffs. Follow Live score and updates of match 69 of IPL 2022 – DC vs MI – from Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

MI vs DC, Match Review:

Fielding errors, bowling errors and captaincy errors cost Delhi Capitals their chance of making the playoffs as Mumbai Indians ended their season on a high with a five-wicket win at the Wankhede Stadium. The win ensured DC are out of the race to the playoffs and hence RCB have managed to seal the final playoffs spot in IPL 2022.

Mumbai Indians made an impressive start to their final game in IPL 2022 as Jasprit Bumrah and Daniel Sams orchestrated the downfall of Delhi Capitals top order. Prithvi Shaw looked to show some resistance but a vicious short ball from Bumrah saw his innings end for just 24. Rovman Powell and Rishabh Pant then rebuild for Delhi with their half-century stand, but as they looked to break free in the death overs, their innings were cut short. Ramandeep Singh ended Pant’s knock while Bumrah’s scorching yorker saw Powell walk back for 43.

Delhi eventually finished with 159 for seven in their must-win game. Earlier, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma opted to bowl against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium. MI made two changes for the game and there was no Arjun Tendulkar in the XI while Delhi Capitals brought back Prithvi Shaw for the big game.

Post-Match Presentation:

Jasprit Bumrah after taking the man of the match award,

Nothing special, just tried to have fun, and enjoyed my game. Very happy with how the last game went. The wicket is quite fast here, there’s pace and bounce. But this (today’s pitch) was slow, and the bounce was low. There wasn’t much swing, so we assessed the conditions and tried to execute our plans. Whenever you are new to the game, so you need to learn a lot. I try to help the youngsters as much as I can. We tried to help them as much as we can, so that it’s a good atmosphere (in the dressing room). Improving your game is a yearly process, it doesn’t stop. We need to analyse next year and come back strong. I was very happy with my rhythm after coming back from Sri Lanka, was happy with the execution. After the ball is released from my hand, I can’t do much. I just try to keep things simple, and execute as much as I can.

Winning captain Rohit Sharma has said,

We were here to win the game. I know few teams were watching us closely, but we wanted to finish on a high. We’ll try to correct the mistakes next season. It was tough after losing eight games, so we needed to rectify the mistakes. But I think we performed well in the second half of the season. When they got to 160 I was nervous, because it was a sluggish pitch. It wasn’t coming on to the bat nicely. I thought if you restrict a team to 150-160, it was about getting one good partnership. We didn’t get off to a good start, but that partnership put us in a good position. There are a lot of things, I have been talking about it, it’s the collective performance that get you through. When the bowlers did well, the batters didn’t. And when the batters performed well, the bowlers didn’t. We came to the party a bit too late, but at least we can take a few positives from this tournament. Every time we go into the auction, we keep an eye on the players who will play for us in a couple of cycles. We get a few youngsters who will eventually go on and play for their country. Congrats to them (on RCB), they have qualified, I would like to wish all the four teams all the best. May the best team win.
