After underachieving for many years, DC reached its first IPL final last year. Since the organization’s name changed, DC has fully invested in the youth, guided by senior players like Shikhar Dhawan, Amit Mishra, and co.
Delhi Capitals reached their first-ever finals in the 2020 season, however, the outcome was not what they were looking for.
DC didn’t ponder on their final defeat much and picked up where they left, by winning the first 6 out of 8 games of the 2021 table and lie comfortably at the top.DC’s second phase commences on the 19th of September vs SRH.
Going into phase 2 of IPL 2021, the young and exuberant Delhi squad will be ‘roaring’ to go.
DC’s star left handers
Rishabh Pant led the DC side in the first phase as skipper Shreyas Iyer was out due to a shoulder injury. The good news for the team is that Shreyas Iyer is back but the staff has decided to carry on with Pant as captain.
DC’s star performer with the bat was none other than the ‘GABBAR’ Shikhar Dhawan. Shikhar was in fine touch and He made chasing scores look too easy. His partnerships with Prithvi Shaw were DC’s main strong point. Dhawan scored a total of 380 runs in 8 innings and is the rightful holder of the orange cap.
DC’s fast bowling line-up has always caused problems to the opposition but their star bowler wasn’t any of their foreign players but it was Avesh Khan. He was in sublime form picking up 14 scalps in 8 games taking him to second for the purple cap.
Strongest overseas unit
DC has one of the most strong and well-rounded overseas units. This includes the likes of Steve Smith, Kagiso Rabada, Marcus Stoinis being their most crucial players.
Chris Woakes & Tom Curran are likely to miss out on the IPL as ECB officials stated that English players will not be sent for the IPL due to their tight international schedule. Sam Billings is also included in that list of English players.
Delhi Capitals will be confident in making the playoffs. Their aim will be to secure a spot in the top 2 and hopefully go one step further and win the title this year.
