Indian Women’s Team play a Test Match after 7 years

The Indian Women’s team is set to play a test match against England Women’s Team in Bristol, United Kingdom. The only test match is to be played on 16th June.

The Indian Women’s team is going to play its first test match after 2014. They would play a test match after 7 years. The team has a mix of old and new faces. The team played South Africa Women’s team in their last test defeating them by an innings and 34 runs.

When the team took on England the previous time in 2014, they defeated them in the only test match they played.  The women’s team in the past few years has been in a good form. They have qualified for the 2017 women’s World Cup finals. Hence, losing to eventual winners England. They also qualified for the 2019 women’s T20 World Cup finals. Hence, losing to eventual champions Australia.

A lot is expected from the Women’s team to perform in the Test series with a brilliant mix of youth and experience in the squad. The Indian Women’s Team has Played England women’s Team thrice in the test series. England winning once, India winning once and, the series being drawn once.

The squad travelling to the United Kingdom is-

 Mithali Raj (Captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (vice-captain), Smriti Mandhana,  Punam Raut, Priya Punia, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Sneh Rana, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper), Indrani Roy (wicket-keeper), Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey, Pooja Vastrakar, Arundhati Reddy, Poonam Yadav, Ekta Bisht, Radha Yadav.
