India vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I match review – India makes it 3-0. The host won the game by 6 wickets.
A feeling of De Ja Vu surrounds the stadium of Dharamshala. Last night Sri Lanka started their innings in a similar fashion. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. They started slowly and accelerated as the innings reached their climax. Rohit once again departed off early without making a significant contribution to the cause. But once again Shreyas Iyer rose to the occasion just like he did last night. His minimal movement before the delivery allows him to place the ball straight down the field. At number three Shreyas not only plays the role of an anchor but also stays on the field until the end to stand out as a finisher.
Ravindra Jadeja on the other hand with his quick-fire cameo manages to make all the difference. The presence of a finisher is quite important for any team. The role of the top order is to set and build an innings. But the finisher grabs those winning runs. India has found a few players who can pull off such a feat on a regular basis.
Key take away for Sri Lanka after – India vs Sri Lanka 3rd T20I
For Sri Lanka, their inability to put pressure on the Indian batsmen at crucial points cost them this game. Even if they managed to build some pressure on a player, boundaries came along to undo all the gained momentum. Dropped chances and misfields near the boundaries were once again on showcase. The standard of Sri Lankan fielding has been a bit below average. Their dependency on individual performances has hampered their progress as a team. Sri Lanka has a lot of issues to solve before the T20I World cup begins in Melbourne.
