With less than 24 hours left for the announcement of India’s Squad for the t20worldcup 2021. The Indian selectors are meeting with the Coach Ravi Shastri and Captain Virat Kohli to discuss on the side picked for T20 WORLD CUP 2021 starting on 17th October and ending on 15th November 2021.. It is a rule by ICC that each team can announce a 15 member squad with 7 reserves at most. The team can carry 30 members contingent including coaching staff and support staff.
With the excitement up in the air. Here are some questions and analysis of the team being picked up :
- Shikhar Dhawan or Prithvi Shaw as the third opener ?
- 2. Ishan Kishan, really relevant in the squad even after KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant being the wicketkeepers ?
- 3. All rounder spot for Krunal Pandya or not ?
- NO Offspinner in the squad – A wildcard entry for Varun Chakravarty ??
INDIAN TEAM- DISCUSSION :
ROHIT SHARMA and KL RAHUL are having a good time in the UK together, opening for India in tests. So why not use their tuning in the T20’s again ? Shikhar Dhawan cannot be ignored once we start talking about ICC events. MR.ICC as we call him, has given brilliant perfomances in all the ICC events and is one of the experienced players in the team setup. So will be picked up as the third opener or will Ishan Kishan and Prithvi Shaw will get their maiden World Cup Squad call-up ?
Middle Order havoc :
As Captain Virat Kohli sets his spot in the squad , Surya Kumar Yadav will be the first choice ahead of Shreyas Iyer for the NO.4 Spot. The No.4 spot has always been a big point for discussion after 2013 champions trophy. India have tried a lot of players including them in a Musical Chair game.
Can they come onto a decision for future as well as the T20 World Cup ?
Rishabh Pant will look to carry on his golden form with the One-day side and will take the gloves for T20 World Cup squad. In the back-up keeper, they might use KL RAHUL. There is a question of Ishan Kishan popping up everytime Wicketkeeping is talked about. But if India has two keepers already, why to keep Ishan in the scheme of things. Even though he has been in a great form but it can be a possibility that he is left out of the squad or either added in the reserves.
Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur will already have their names stamped in the squad. But is Hardik Pandya back in his old form, both as a bowler and a power-hitting batsman ? With Washington Sundar out of IPL2021 second half, will be ready for the T20 World Cup ? If he is not available for the World Cup either who is going to take his place ?
Is it an open door for Krunal Pandya or is Axar Patel through a wild card entry ? Yuzi Chahal is the best spin bowler in the T20i’s for India and his performances have been more than better of any spinner in the world. His spells in middle overs get teams in the web of clever bowling. He will be the most important person leading the spin department for India.
Bowling department :
Selection of fast bowlers will be a good headache for the Indian selectors. There are around 8-9 bowlers to choose from and they have to select 5 of them. Jasprit Bumrah will make it to the squad and playing XI without any doubt. But who will be the other bowlers joining him ? Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be one of the contenders, joining him Mohammad Shami has to be their go-to bowler with his experience and his abilities with the old and new ball, he can be very dangerous.
Now Deepak Chahar has been consistent with his performances with the new ball but he still needs to prove his worth with the old ball in the death overs. He has been a kind of bowler for the captain, who mostly bowls in the power play with a brilliant show of his swing bowling and being economical on any surface. Can Virat Kohli use him with his full abilities in the conditions like UAE ? With the talk of death Bowling one more name comes to our mind is T. Natarajan. Nattu has proved his death Bowling skills in the IPL over the years with his missile-guided Yorkers, he can bamboozle any greatest batsman in the world. Also being a left arm bowler will add more arrows in Kohli’s quiver.
PROBABLE SQUAD (INDIA) :
