First Innings
The first innings of the match started with three quick wickets of Karachi Kings within the powerplay. Babar Azam, who was expected to give them a good start was bowled by a perfectly executed good-length delivery from Shaheen Afridi. Joe Clarke and Colin Ingram followed him soon after that. It was now upon Sharjeel Khan, who was drooped earlier in the match, and Mohammad Nabi to stabilize the innings. These two took on the responsibility, three early wickets did not stop them from making most of the pitch. Both of them went on to score half-centuries. But after their wickets fell, Kings failed to make 200 which could have been easily possible. They gave Qalandars a target of 187.
Second Innings
Just like the first innings, Qalandars too lost quick wickets in the powerplay. Mohammad Amir delivered a beautiful full-length ball to take the wicket of Joe Denly. Fakhar Zaman and Ben Dunk solidified a partnership of 119 in the middle overs. After Zaman fell to Dan Christian in the 18th over, David Wiese walked in and that was it for Qalandars. He was all they needed to win. With a few lucky shots and some smart batting on poor balls, Wiese scored 31 runs in just 9 balls.
Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars Match Conclusion:
Zaman, Dunk, and Wiese helped Qalandars win the match with four balls to spare. This was amazing to watch, but what was even more fascinating to watch was the wickets in powerplay of both innings. There was a little bit of grip in the pitch for seamers. They were able to put some pressure on the batsmen. We won’t see very much for the bowlers from that pitch, but they would definitely get some assistance from the pitch.
